As we’ve all been settling back into school for the second semester, Louisiana Students have another break from school to look forward to…MARDI GRAS! I honestly have to say Mardi Gras is one of my favorite holidays. It’s just so exciting! Since my dad’s whole family is from New Orleans I’ve gotten the thrill of going to New Orleans every year for this event.
But what also comes with all the parades, parties and king cakes is knowing that the next day is Lent…which means giving something up for 40 days. Every year my mom has made me give up one thing. And I have to say I DO NOT look forward to it. As I’ve gotten older I’ve come to realize the importance of it. When I was little I would just think “why does she make me do this? No one else has to do it.” (I know…a little dramatic.) But as we look forward to this exciting time and celebrate it with parades, after its all over give up one thing.

This is a very nice topic. If you could create more connections to your life then it might make it stronger.
ReplyDeleteI love Mardi Gras break! Usually I go to New Orleans but this year I'm going on a different trip instead, so maybe next year! But yeah Lent, last year me and Mary Michael gave up Facebook for the entire 40 days, we didn't even cheat at all! We were so proud of ourselves, and now its so much more easier to just not look at Facebook at all when I have to study or something, it really helped!
