I have to say that this global issues project has been kind of fun! Even though it’s a little stressful at times it’s been really cool to research my topic. I have decided to do poverty and how it affects the health of children in Cambodia. Since Cambodia is a very poor country, I wanted to show people what it was like to live the way they live.
You would not believe what these kids go through each day. It’s horrible. Our view of poverty would be considered pretty wealthy to the people there. Phnom Penh is the poorest with a poverty line of $0.59. Mississippi which is the poorest state in America as of 2011 has a median income of $36,850. Big difference, huh? Can you imagine living like that? I can’t.
That is a huge difference! $36,850 is hard to live off of, so I can't imagine living of of $0.59. Is 0.59 the yearly income of those in Phnom Penh?
ReplyDeleteWOW. That would be extreamly difficult to live off of. It's really sad realizing what some people go through on a regular basis.
